Kari Putnam, LPC, CAADC

Originally from the Cleveland area, Kari came to Erie to attend Mercyhurst College and have been living and working in Erie ever since. She has worked in various roles in the mental health field for 24 years and will use this experience to help you navigate whatever struggles you may be facing. Kari initially earned a master’s degree in Administration of Justice from Mercyhurst College and later returned to school to complete her master’s degree in Community Counseling from Edinboro University. In addition to working with those who struggle with mental health, Kari has also worked with those who struggle with addiction and substance use disorders.

Kari’s approach to therapy is both compassionate and practical with doses of humor when needed. She utilizes evidence-based approaches to help people reach their goals, such as; Solution-focused, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Relapse Prevention Planning, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Kari is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania, and she wants to help inspire growth and healing for those who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, or simply feeling overwhelmed with life stressors and transitions.

When Kari is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her dog, Tilly. She is also an avid reader and runner. She mostly enjoys fiction and historical fiction, but is also open to a good memoir. Much of her summer is spent camping, training for a fall race, or visiting family in South Carolina.
